Sat 24 Feb ROLLER COASTER RUN, MT DANDENONG (VIC)
43k, 21.5k, 10k. The event starts and finishes at the picturesque SkyHigh Mount Dandenong and runners are treated to a journey through the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Sat 3 Mar CRADLE MOUNTAIN ULTRA RUN (TAS)
The Cradle Mt Run is a one day traverse of Tasmanian’s famous Cradle Mt to Lake St Clair Overland Track. The altitude of the track in several areas of the plateau is greater than 1,000 metres, and is well above the tree line. This low tree line illustrates the exposure and harshness of conditions that can prevail even in summer. 6km Run/Walk or 12.5km Run. The course is one of the most picturesque Runs in the Ballarat area situated around Mt Warrenheip just 10 mins east of Ballarat. The Mountain of Fun Run is the major annual fundraising event for St Brendan's Primary School, Dunnstown. In 2018 we will be celebrating our 10th Mountain of Fun Run. Sun 25 Mar GREAT VOLCANIC MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE (NSW)
The Great Volcanic is a 'fun run' style event where you can run or walk to the top of Mount Canobolas, near Orange. There is only one course of 11km, with a two wave start, the first at 9:00am and the second at 9:10am. While the course is naturally mostly uphill only a couple of sections are steep. From the start near Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds (off Pinnacle Rd) you first visit Mt Towac (that's a steep section but the views make it worth the effort) and then to Young Man Canobolas before the final climb to Mt Canobolas (also steep). This vertical test of endurance requires a solo participant or a team to ascend and descend the same track until they complete the equivalent of the height of Everest (9000 m) above sea level. Sat-Sun 21-22 Jul ELEPHANT TRAIL RACE (NSW)
The Elephant Trail Race is from Saturday, 21 July to Sunday, 22 July 2018 at the Cairncross State Forest in Port Macquarie, NSW. The event follows a 25km course, with approximately 1100m elevation per lap (100km has approximately 4500m). Saturday has the 100km course, being 2 laps in one direction and 2 laps in reverse; and the 50km course, 2 laps in one direction. Sunday has 25km, 13km and kids trail races. The 100km can also be run as a relay team of two people, each running 1 lap in each direction. Sun 19 Aug RUN THE GREAT WHITSUNDAY TRAIL (QLD)
Standard distance 28.7k has been running for 11 yrs and the inaugural Ultra Distance 57.4k was incorporated into the event weekend in 2016. It was cancelled in 2017 due to cyclone damage. The course travels through the Conway National Park rainforest, ending up at the Airlie Beach Lagoon. Total entries are capped at 200.
