Event date is the 28/11/2015. There are two distances. The 21km will start at Point Addis and Finish in Torquay and the 12km run will start at the famous Bells Bech and Finish in Torquay. Both runs will follow the iconic Surfcoast walk. All runners will start in the light and finish in the dark. The Camelbak Southern Highlands Challenge trail running festival offers a scenic and challenging route through the forests and farmland of the Southern Highlands of NSW. Runners will experience hammering singletrack, forest tracks, dirt roads and no asphalt whatsoever. Exciting short, medium, long and ultra distances are available for runners of all abilities: everyone from experienced marathoners to newbies, school children to pensioners. Everyone is welcome at this family-friendly event at the beautiful Wingello forest in the Southern Highlands. Sun 30 Aug MISTY MOUNTAIN TRAIL RUN (NSW)
The Misty Mountain Trail Run is a 5km, 11km, 20km, 30k, 40k and 50k trail running event inside the magnificent Wollumbin (Mt Warning) volcanic caldera and is organized in tandem with a MTB Marathon at the same location the previous day. This stunning area encompasses the massive 20 million year old shield volcano with surrounding views of the outer rim in every direction. From this area you can clearly see Mt Warning (Wollumbin) and the impressive 600m high crater wall reaching up into the Border Ranges National Park. The Coastal Classic is a 29km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia's oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world's second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest - this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! Sun 1 Nov GREAT BARRIER REEF MARATHON FESTIVAL (QLD)
The Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival is on November 1st in Port Douglas. The 74km JCU Ultra Marathon now begins on Four Mile Beach, journeys out into Mowbray Valley, heading up the infamous "Bump Track" and then turning left onto Black Mountain Road to tackle the stunning trails of Twin Bridges. This is one epic challenge and a seriously challenging event. Not for the faint hearted either, the 42.195km Steve Moneghetti Marathon follows a similar course with the inclusion of the Bump Track, but with first a loop through the pristine valley of Spring Creek before heading for the infamous climb. This event turns around at the top of the track and heads back into Port Douglas along the palm tree lined streets of Port Douglas - an adventure marathon like no other! There is also the 21.1km Sheraton Mirage Resort Port Douglas Half Marathon which also begins on the beach and the 10km Newsport Daily run, a hot lap around the township of Port Douglas from the beach to suburbia, through hidden trails and back along the palm tree lined streets. Also on offer for those preferring a more 'fun run' approach is the 5km Port Douglas Fundy 5000 and the 2.5km Coles Junior Challenge. Fri-Sun 13-15 Nov ENDEAVOUR FOUNDATION'S 500KM TEAM ENDURANCE RELAY (QLD)
The 500km Team Endurance Relay sees participants start running at the break of dawn and continue in a non-stop relay until sunset. Throughout the day runners are tested physically and mentally by a challenging course and the extreme heat of Queensland's summer. As the last event on the running calendar, runners are in prime condition and well prepared for the gruelling conditions. The 500km Team Endurance Relay is one of the most difficult and challenging events that runners will encounter. To register for the 500km Team Endurance Relay, you will need to form a team and decide if you are ready to take on the One Day Event or challenge yourself on the Three Day Event.
