Sun 2 Aug EMU CREEK TRAIL RUN (NSW)
The 2nd annual Emu Creek Trail Run event.5km, 10km, 20km, 30km and 40km events. This is a fun and challenging event open to all ages 12 years+. All runners are welcome to come out to Emu Creek and enjoy the weekend of trail running under the massive BIG SKY!. Emu creek is a beautiful family friendly location, (kids bmx track and swings) as well as swimming holes. Emu Creek Off Road park is 2hrs inland from Byron bay, 3hrs from the Gold Coast or Coffs harbour and 3.5hrs from Brisbane. This event is organized in tandem with the MTB Marathon we have been running for 8 years at Emu Creek. Emu Creek Eco retreat is a 3000+ acre off road park. New this year is the 30k distance option. Dunkeld Kindergarten proudly presents a picturesque running event starting and finishing in the heart of beautiful Dunkeld. As well as a 4.7k and 10k town run, 2015 sees the introduction of a challenging 21.5k trail run. The trail run travels through stunning Grampian landscape including untouched trails not normally opened to public access. For those yearning the ultimate Grampians experience, an optional 4.5k Mt Sturgeon summit climb and descend will be available when completing online registration. Effectively this give participants a 26k course. A significant level of training and experience is highly recommended for those selecting this option. Also, generous cutoffs will apply. The Misty Mountain Trail Run is a 5km, 11km, 20km, 30k, 40k and 50k trail running event inside the magnificent Wollumbin (Mt Warning) volcanic caldera and is organized in tandem with a MTB Marathon at the same location the previous day. This stunning area encompasses the massive 20 million year old shield volcano with surrounding views of the outer rim in every direction. From this area you can clearly see Mt Warning (Wollumbin) and the impressive 600m high crater wall reaching up into the Border Ranges National Park. The Coastal Classic is a 29km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia, it has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. Set amid one of Australia's oldest and wildest coastal terrains, in fact it is the world's second oldest national park (after Yellowstone in the U.S), the Coastal Classic is a trail run along the Coast Track from Otford to Bundeena. With 29km of trails, beaches, sand and rainforest - this race has a little bit of everything with great views to top it off! The Wildside Adventure Race is about the journey - discovering that adventure is everywhere. It is about challenging competitors, taking them to new places and out of their comfort zone. It is about showcasing incredible landscapes and providing regions an opportunity to connect people with places. WildsideAR will take racers to the wilds. Teams will navigate through spaces rarely visited. They will encounter challenges as they traverse demanding landscapes in all weather conditions, day and night. This is expedition racing. Sun 1 Nov GREAT BARRIER REEF MARATHON FESTIVAL (QLD)
The Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival is on November 1st in Port Douglas. The 74km JCU Ultra Marathon now begins on Four Mile Beach, journeys out into Mowbray Valley, heading up the infamous "Bump Track" and then turning left onto Black Mountain Road to tackle the stunning trails of Twin Bridges. This is one epic challenge and a seriously challenging event. Not for the faint hearted either, the 42.195km Steve Moneghetti Marathon follows a similar course with the inclusion of the Bump Track, but with first a loop through the pristine valley of Spring Creek before heading for the infamous climb. This event turns around at the top of the track and heads back into Port Douglas along the palm tree lined streets of Port Douglas - an adventure marathon like no other! There is also the 21.1km Sheraton Mirage Resort Port Douglas Half Marathon which also begins on the beach and the 10km Newsport Daily run, a hot lap around the township of Port Douglas from the beach to suburbia, through hidden trails and back along the palm tree lined streets. Also on offer for those preferring a more 'fun run' approach is the 5km Port Douglas Fundy 5000 and the 2.5km Coles Junior Challenge.
